Steamboat is an established and recognized brand in the ski market. With skier visits over one million every year for the last decade or more, it is clear that the true Steamboat skiers are among the most loyal in the business. Skiing came here very early. There are many iconic images such as the one showing a horse dragging 4 or 5 skiers up the hill at around the turn of the last century. Almost anyone who skis in North America has seen the winter scene of the horse drawn sleigh gliding down Main Street, packed with revelers. These are some of the most recognizable images of Steamboat. Perhaps in part because of this deeply embedded ski history, today Steamboat Springs is home to a large proportion of current and past Olympians and World Cup racers.
